Our Physical Therapists

Paul Heath, PT, DPT, CGMP

Dr. Heath has specialized in orthopedics and sports medicine for nearly 15 years. He has extensive training in post-graduate orthopedic manual physical therapy; sports medicine; and golf fitness/rehabilitation.  Over time, he has developed a large base of knowledge for correcting sports related injuries and providing proper patient education to preventing them. This passion and drive was the catalyst for him to open his own practice in 2011 and to deliver the quality care you would expect from a professional establishment.

Dr. Heath has completed research in the field of traumatic brain injury and rehabilitation. He has presented his research in Venice, Italy at the Annual Neurorehabilitation Conference (2002) and as a result his research was published in the Journal of Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair (2002).  His approach to rehab comes from a neuroscience perspective where the brain is fully employed in the treatment process.

Dr. Heath has graduated from Howard University and gained experience from Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hospital, National Rehabilitation Hospital, and Holy Cross Hospital. While at Mayo Clinic, he did research on focused shoulder ailments, specifically the rotator cuff with injuries to the supraspinatus muscle. Rehab was focused on movement dynamics and function, following trauma.  He presented his findings to the rehabilitation board at Mayo.

Dr. Heath obtained his Certified Golf Fitness Instructor  - Medical Level 2 license through the Titleist Performance Institute, and has done extensive studies on golf related injuries and rehabilitation. Through his years working with golfers at various levels from pros to recreational golfers, he has formulated a rehab and performance protocol that focuses on the kinematic sequencing of the golf swing.  This sequencing conforms to the golfers anatomical deficiencies.  Education is placed on the patient's ability to swing within the parameters of their body's anatomy.

He uses a computerized golf swing analysis with K-Vest software to illustrate the deficiencies of the kinematic sequence compared to PGA and LPGA pros.  He also uses a golf assessment protocol to specifically identify abnormalities in body structure and function that can impair the sequencing of the swing.  The golf program realigns, adjusts and most importantly educates the golfer on their proper anatomical form.  Hint: If you aren't flexible and mobile like Jordan Spieth, don't try to swing like Jordan Spieth.  Your training and drills set forth should cater to your body's morphology.

Dr. Heath has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 2000 and has served on various advisory boards and panels.  He received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award (2003). He is a member of the Private Practice Section and the Maryland and Washington DC chapters of the APTA.

Dr. Heath has done numerous speaking engagements focused on community health, joint pain management, stress management, sports related injuries and prevention, and has engaged with various sports clubs including football, basketball, soccer and track.  Prince George's Community College invited him to speak to its Hillman Entrepreneurs cohort about starting and running a successful business.

Dr. Heath is a licensed USSF, VYSA Elite Soccer Coach who has also played at various levels.  He is passionate about the sport and offered a Summer soccer camp for kids with international coaches and former professional players.

Dr. Heath is married and has three kids who are active with Maryland United FC, DeMatha Catholic HS, and Anne Arundel Soccer Association.  Proudly, his children have benefitted from the sports training program to qualify for the Junior Olympics in 200m, 400m, Long Jump and 4x100 relay.

Dr. Heath received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Health Sciences and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Howard University.

Renee Riley, PT, MSPT

A strong desire to help others coupled with a love of science spurred Renee's desire to become a physical therapist.  Volunteering in a physical therapy department of a hospital as a teenager solidified the career path she had chosen.  She enjoyed assisting patients in the limited capacity as a volunteer and eagerly anticipated acquiring the education and experience she needed to become a skilled physical therapist.

Prior to earning a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Marymount University, Renee graduated summa cum laude from Howard University.  She has over a decade of experience in various outpatient orthopedic settings.  Renee evaluates and treats patients with a wide array of conditions-- from acute to chronic pain, from young ones to the elderly.

Renee's approach to physical therapy involves educating patients on their condition, which empowers them to manage their symptoms during the course of their rehab.  She strongly believes education is key to patients becoming their own health advocate.  Renee also takes a hands-on approach with patients and tailors their treatment plan according to their individual needs and goals.  She views it as a rewarding experience to be instrumental in a patient's road to recovery and truly enjoys her work.
